Manchester United still interested in signing Chelsea loan star Joao Felix He could reportedly make a new move for the striker in the summer.

The Portuguese attacker has continued to impress since moving to west London on loan Atlético Madrid in January he scored twice in the Premier League – most recently in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Everton.

Atleti are keen to secure Felix a permanent deal in the summer as the forward has a strained relationship with manager Diego Simeone.

The team have also had excellent performances since Felix’s departure and are unbeaten since their last La Liga appearance. In that time, it lost just four points and scored 18 goals.

Chelsea are still weighing whether or not to convert the 23-year-old’s loan spell into a permanent move, with Atletico’s £80m asking price a massive stumbling block.

Graham Potter was very pleased with Felix’ effect and performances, although one feels such a massive outlay could be better spent on a more orthodox number nine.

United had also explored the possibility of signing Felix in the January window but were put off by Atletico’s massive demands as Chelsea agreed to pay a loan fee of around £10million and cover his mammoth wages.

But now Spanish newspaper AS claim the Red Devils could return with a new offer for Felix in the summer.

The Red Devils have never given up their interest and have continued to monitor his performances for Chelsea while there is a feeling that Atletico could be more open to negotiations in the summer than in the winter.

However, that £80m price tag could also prove too high for United, especially as Erik ten Hag prefers a move to a proven elite goalscorer.

United are currently associated with the likes of Tottenham contract rebel Harry Kane and Serie A top scorer Victor Osimhen, both of whom tend to be top scorers through and through.

Potter spoke enthusiastically about Felix earlier this month, saying: “Well we’re really happy with him – assuming he doesn’t attack anyone on the center line!

“His qualities are clear: He can accept the ball in the tightest of spaces and makes things possible from an offensive perspective. I think he hit the crossbar twice, hit it too and had some other chances. So he also has to finish this quality.

“It’s good that he can play in a few positions. We used him more centrally, but he has the ability to play pretty much anywhere in the attacking phase of the game.’
