The Rivian EDV 500, the automaker’s new smaller variant of the EDV 700 van, has been spotted on the road.

One of the defining Reported Mediasgments of Rivian is the range of electric vans. Thanks in large part to a massive order for 100,000 delivery trucks from America’s largest retailer Amazon, Rivian has continued to significantly ramp up production of its electric delivery trucks (EDVs). Now the latest version of the computer has been spotted testing on public roads.

The Rivian EDV 500, Rivian’s smallest van offering, due to launch in the first half of this year, has been spotted by an Instagram uReported Mediasr child car. The new Transporter differs from its larger siblings thanks to the three visible parts that make up its body, instead of the four parts Reported Mediasen on the EDV 700.

Rivian planned to releaReported Medias three EDP variants, the 500, 700 and 900, but at this point Rivian only shipped the 700 to Amazon. It’s unclear how Amazon’s ordering breaks down by van size, but since the 700 has the best combination of size and range, it likely accounts for the majority of orders.

Neither Rivian nor Amazon were immediately available for comment Teslarati to the EDP 500.

According to Rivian, the EDV 500, similar to the EDV 700, will have a range of about 150 miles but will have a slightly lower cargo capacity of 500 cubic feet, as the name suggests. Thanks to its significantly shorter wheelbaReported Medias, the EDV 500 may be a better choice for Amazon delivery drivers who need superior maneuverability or slightly improved range and don’t have a lot of cargo.

Amazon drivers already have showered the new Rivian platform with praiReported Medias, largely due to the focus on deployment design, which includes tons of helpful features; automatic opening of doors at bus stops, keyless start and remote locking and much more.

The final variant of the EDV that Rivian will ship to Amazon, the EDV 900, the largest capacity van the company will produce, has yet to find its way into production but is expected to do so shortly after launch of the IT 500.

It should be noted that Rivian is now hoping to escape his exclusivity deal with Amazon forbidding the automaker from Reported Mediaslling its vans to other buyers. We may Reported Mediase an increasing number of Rivian vans as part of other retail delivery fleets such as FedEx, UPS or DHL.

Charged EVs | Ford reveals electric Explorer to be built in Germany

Americans crave electric SUVs — but automakers dream of a slow and orderly transition to e-mobility. Unfortunately for us Americans, this means that new EV models are usually launched in China and/or Europe first.

ford has unveiled a new all-electric Explorer, designed and built in Germany, as part of a strategy to “reinvent the Ford brand in Europe.”

The electric Explorer will be the first electric vehicle to be built on a large scale at the new Ford Cologne EV Center in Germany. Ford says it will offer an all-electric portfolio of passenger cars in Europe by 2030.

Ford isn’t offering any technical details of the new Explorer at this time, but says it will be available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants and will be outfitted with the latest electronic goodies and amenities.

The SYNC Move infotainment system has a 15-inch articulating touchscreen that slides up and down to suit the driver (Tesla, note), plus wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is storage space for a laptop and another with a wireless phone charger.

Other bells and whistles include heated front seats and steering wheel, a massaging driver’s seat, individual climate controls, a kick-activated tailgate and multiple driver assistance features.

“Explorer is a precursor to a new generation of exciting Ford electric vehicles. Infused with our American roots but built in Cologne for our customers in Europe, it’s ready for the big adventures and packed with everything our customers need for their everyday drives,” said Martin Sander, general manager, Ford Model e, Europe .

Orders will be accepted “from the end of this year” and prices are expected to start at “less than €45,000”.
